Bible ban uproar

The Gideons are no longer allowed to put Bibles in hospital patient rooms in Melbourne.

Is this a bad thing?

"The Catholic Church condemned the ban and labelled arguments that Bibles could offend non-Christians as "silly". " I can't help thinking that this statement would carry more weight if it were made by a group who didn't regard this book as the foundation of their religion. As long as people can bring their own Bibles to all of these places and read them as they will, I don't really see the problem with this.

I found this useful last

I found this useful last week. I normally carry an RSV when I go do visits, but when I want to read Psalm 23 to a barely-conscious patient, that Gideon KJV is handy. But that's hardly a reason to keep it there. Those books are there for Jews, too, as well as Mormons and a whole bunch of other religions. They're given freely. I don't see the problem having them for those who want them. Pastor Dale Webmaster, http://LCMSPastor.com
