Christian coalition loses its authority

Polls show that about a third of South Carolina Republicans consider themselves part of the Christian right. However, the movement is less unified than it was in 2000, when groups such as the Christian Coalition were instrumental in helping George W.?Bush win a bitter primary battle with John McCain in the state.
