Christian Union in Exeter Threatens Legal Action After Suspension
Submitted by pastordale on Sat, 2006-11-18 23:39.
The Christian Union has operated at Exeter University for 50 years now, but has allegedly been temporarily suspended from the official list of student societies on campus, and had its student bank accounts frozen, as well as being banned from free use of Student Guild premises, or advertising events within Guild facilities.
This is happening more and more. A court precedent is needed to answer this question once and for all.

The Evangelical Christian
The Evangelical Christian Union (ECU) has NOT been suspended from the official list of societies.
It has however had it's #1 bank account frozen (this account only holds membership fees and Guild provided money) their #2 account (which incidentally holds considerably more money from private donations and the UCCF) has NOT been frozen. They have also been stopped from the FREE booking of rooms but are quite able to book a room and pay for it.
These privileges of being a society under the Students' Guild will be reinstated immediately once the ECU start to behave like a Guild society - that is to obey the rules!
They are in breach of the Equal Ops policy that has existed for many years. They also conduct illegal, or against Guild rules, elections for their committee.
It really is very simple when you have the FACTS and not the bent and down right lies that the UCCF and the media (notably the Times article) propagate.
