Christians Urge Protection of Poor in Climate Change Bill

Well-known groups such as the National Association of Evangelicals, National Council of Churches, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Union for Reform Judaism pressed Congress Wednesday to require a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The religious leaders rallied behind a bill by Sens. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut and John Warner of Virginia “to strengthen and improve protections for the poor and vulnerable as (the) legislation moves forward,” said Paul Gorman of National Religious Partnership for the Environment, according to The Associated Press.
Or they could address the needs of the poor directly.
