Bill to create Church of God in Christ auto license probably not legal, says attorney general

Tennessee's attorney general says a state license plate that allocates money to a church would probably be ruled illegal.The opinion by Attorney General Robert E. Cooper Jr. came after Sen. Ophelia Ford and Rep. Karen Camper — both Memphis Democrats — proposed a bill creating a special plate for the Church of God in Christ, which is based in Memphis.
