• Pope's excommunication comments cause stir in Church

The Pope gave his backing on Wednesday to Mexican Church leaders who have threatened to excommunicate Catholic lawmakers for voting to legalize abortion on demand in Mexico City.

One thing I have to say about the current Pope: he has a spine. Agree or not, I have to respect his conviction and willingness to take a stand.
